    Gardening Update

At the beginning of summer I was inspired to jump into the gardening game. I really like the idea of having a garden with fresh veggies that fit into my fitness and nutriton plan. Buying clean and organic are ideal, but there’s something special about food coming straight from your garden. This year, we planted a few basics in our garden, just to get the feelers out and so far, so good – here’s the post where I shared the beginnings of the garden. We’ve already been talking about more updates we can make to the yard to optimize our gardening space – not only for vegetables but also for some…

    Our Vancouver Vacation

I’m back from vacation in Vancouver! We spent six days in the northwest city that hosted the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. Traveling is amazing and I hope that everyone gets the opportunity to do it so they can see other cities, countries, and how other cultures operate. This is going to be a long, picture heavy blog post – thanks to our friend on the trip that had a camera on him the whole time and took some of these amazing pictures. Our trip started very early the Sunday we departed – 3:15am wake up call and the flight out was before 7am. We had a five hour layover in Seattle…

Packing for Vancouver | Outfits and Activities

I’m headed out for Vancouver! Jake and I are once again off to some more traveling – this time in Canada. Vancouver randomly popped into our heads a while back as a place to visit because it has lot to offer – a big city, shopping, the ocean, mountains. We’re really into adventures and exploring when on vacation, as opposed to touristy stuff – though I love at least seeing the touristy stuff when visiting. We planned to take a longer trip than some of our previous trips, a full six days, so packing proved a bit more challenging this time. Outfits  This vacation is the longest we’ve ever taken…

    Gardening and Thrifting Fun

Happy June! For the first time in my memory, I’m enjoying the warm, summer weather. It’s been the 80s the past few weeks and I was loving it, though I could do without the humidity. I consider myself a fall girl and have dreaded summer in years past. I’ve gone the past two summers without air conditioning and my hair expands larger in width by the minute during Minnesota’s humid summers. Now I can’t wait to get outside (with SPF on) to get some sun on my skin, lay out at the lake, and get some yard work done. This spring has inspired me to try new things that I even previously…

Easy Grilled Shrimp and Veggies | Recipe of the Week

Memorial Day is this weekend and for many that means the beginning of summer and will spend the weekend at barbecues. The weather is looking a little rainy here this weekend, but if you’re lucky enough to have some nice barbecuing weather here’s an easy recipe to try. I’m not big into grilling and we don’t do it very often at out house. We have counter top griddle and grill that we use more just because it’s more convenient. Shrimp is perfect for adding protein to your daily macros since they’re loaded with it – it always surprises me because they can be so small once cooked. To grill the shrimp…
