Most of the recipes that I share are macro-friendly and meal prep friendly – this one is a little different. My dad has been making this dip since I was in high school and my family requests that he makes for all our gatherings and holiday. This summer, I finally introduced this recipe to my friends and everyone loves it. I’m naming this dip the summer fiesta dip because it pairs perfectly with barbecues and pool side, however it’s amazing year round.
This recipe came about during a road trip my dad took to Kansas City many, many years ago. He was tailgating at a baseball game when he tried this from a unknown, fellow tailgater and he immediately asked for the recipe. The rest is history.
I decided to make my version of the famous dip a little different than my dad to try and make it a slightly on the healthy side. My dad’s version of this dip calls for sour cream as the base, my version is a mix of Greek yogurt and low fat sour cream. Using Greek yogurt both ups the protein and also lowers the fat compared to using only sour cream. This dip is so good with the mix of creaminess from the Greek yogurt and sour cream and spiciness that the jalapenos add. Don’t forget about the black olives – they add a little something special that you can’t quite put your finger on if you didn’t know they were there.
Sorry, no calories and macros for this recipe. This recipe is for purely enjoying it. Looking for more macro-friendly options? Check out my other recipes!
What You’ll Need
- 10 oz. Greek yogurt
- 8 oz. low-fat sour cream
- 1 Hidden Valley Fiesta Ranch packet
- 1 cup shredded cheese – I like the Monterrey jack and cheddar mix
- 1 small can diced jalapenos
- 1 small can chopped black olives
- 1 tsp. cumin
- chips for dipping
Combine the Greek yogurt and sour cream together then stir in the fiesta packet. Add the rest of the ingredients and combine. Chill overnight. Serve with tortilla chips, Fritos, Doritos, pretzels, or even spread on a tortilla for added spice!
Give this dip a try for your next gathering. You’ll love it! I promise!
