I’ve made a new food discovery and I’m loving it – peanut butter protein roll up. For the past two weeks this has been my favorite snack for a preworkout or even in the evening if I’m craving something sweet. A few months back I purchased the Jif peanut butter powder hoping it would be a replacement for peanut butter when I had the craving. Sadly, this powder mixed with water is not the same as a big scoop of traditional peanut butter. Instead we’ve been adding it into our protein shakes trying to use it up, then one day I thought adding my regular protein powder to it would be a good idea. I was right. Add that mixture onto a high protein wrap, and you’ve got a macro friendly snack.
- 1 T. peanut butter protein, I have some from Jif
- .5 serving of protein powder, I use Optimum Nutrition 100% Whey Vanilla Ice Cream (chocolate would be amazing for this recipe!)
- 1 FlatOut ProteinUp Wrap – count ALL the carbs, not just the “net” carbs
- Optional – cinnamon, banana, apple
In a small bowl or container, mix the the peanut butter powder and protein powder with a bit of water until it reaches a spreadable consistency. Spread the paste onto the FlatOut ProteinUp Wrap, roll up the wrap, and slice into bite size pieces. If I’m feeling like I need a little more sweetness I sprinkle cinnamon over the paste before rolling it up. This would also be great with some banana or apple slices in the middle. Calories and macros on this snack: 213 calories, 27g protein, 21g carbs, 4g fat. Look at all that protein for this little snack!
This snack is definitely for a heavy lifting day or intense cardio workout for me. Make it fit your macros though and you can have this! The paste mixture for this wrap would also go well on rice cakes, protein pancakes – my recipe here, toast. It’s super good with pretzels as a dip!
Hope you try this! Thanks for reading!
