Happy March! Glad you’re here for another Friday Favorites!
Cover Girl Ready, Set Gorgeous Foundation | I’ve included this foundation in a foundation and base post in the past, but I’ve rediscovered it as a favorite over the past few weeks. It has just enough coverage for me, keeps me pretty matte, and is a great color match – 210 Medium Beige. I had been on the search for a lighter coverage base for the work week, and I do really enjoy the Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer that I mentioned a few weeks back, but on the days I have plans in the evening after work I still prefer to wear a medium coverage foundation to work. That being said, I don’t like my foundation to look like foundation while I’m at work, and this Cover Girl foundation has a thinner consistency compared to the L’Oreal Pro-Matte Foundation that I also love, but tends to be too matte for every day use.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Eraser | This is probably the most talked about drugstore concealer on the market and for good reason. It has great coverage and the price is in everyone’s budget. This line also has a Brightener and Corrector shade for color correcting, somethings also a little difficult to find in the drugstore. I haven’t used either of the color correcting shades, so I can’t speak to how they perform. I use the shade Light under my eyes and apply it with a Beauty Blender.
I have to be honest here about one thing, I absolutely hate the packaging. I’ve gone through three tubes or so of this, and every one breaks and the product leaks into the container as you can see in the picture. It’s a complete waste of product and you waste even more with the applicator on it. Like most, I take the sponge off so the concealer doesn’t get soaked up.
Sigma Aura Powder – Cor-de-Rosa | While I transition my makeup looks into more spring vibes I’m starting to use warmer shades, but I don’t want to go too crazy on the corals just yet. This blush, or rather Aura Powder, from Sigma is right in the middle of what I’m looking for. The name of this shade is right on the dot: a mix of coral and rose. In the pan the color looks neutral and subtle, but once it gets onto the skin it appears more as a flushed light coral.
I own a couple of Sigma blushes and I really enjoy all of them. I find that they’re pigmented and blend on to the skin easily. Of course, I apply it with Sigma F15 which I use for everything.
Maybelline Creamy Matte Lipstick – Touch of Spice | I wanted to use this lip stick as much as I could while it was still winter before packing it away for spring and summer. This shade is great for every day office wear and last for a few hours through drinking and light snacks. On my skin, the color can come off at little more red than it appears in the tube, so sometimes I’ll pair it with a neutral lip liner like Milani Spice or just apply a thin layer.
Easy Lunchboxes | If you’re in the market for some quality meal prep containers, I would say go for the Easy Lunchboxes. They run more expensive that the basic black and clear lid containers that are popular in meal prep, but I find that these hold up to a lot and also come in fun colors. I purchased another bright set to have for all the meal I did last week and I was able to easily stack them in the freezer.
Ozeri Food Scale | With doing a legit cut this year (nutrition plan is coming), we decided investing in a food scale would be worth the hype. And it is. Measuring food by weight instead of volume is going to be more accurate when it comes down to calories and macros. I purchased this scale on Amazon for around $10 and I’ve been using it daily. I use it measure egg whites, fruit, cheese, and popcorn!
If you’re looking to get the most out of a diet or cut, I’d recommend a food scale to see the best results. It might also come in handy if you’re into baking – I know some recipes measure by weight instead of volume or cups.
I thought it would be fun to start adding my favorite recipe of the week, if I have one to share. I started my cut about two weeks ago so I’m on a major meal prepping kick. To help track my calories and macros each day, I plan my days out the night before. Lately for breakfast, I’ve been skipping the protein shake and opting for this Egg White Scramble recipe with spinach and feta cheese – it’s delicious! I use 3 to 4 servings of egg whites – 75 to 100 calories, and then add a handful of spinach and 28 grams of feta. In the morning, I’ll let the eggs cook while I’m gathering my lunch and gym items, then put it in a large Pyrex container and eat it work.
My recipe has been adapted from the one I found on:
- Egg Whites, 3 to 4 servings
- Feta Cheese, 28 grams – I use light feta which cuts back on my fat macros for the day. Atheos light version has the same carbs/sugar as the regular version
- Small handful of Spinach – or a lot depending on your liking
- Dash of salt and pepper
Cook all ingredients in a saucepan until done to your liking and enjoy! This was my first time cooking with egg whites and find that they take a little longer to cook and to be patient waiting for them. I usually cook until nearly solid on the bottom side and then flip for another minute or two – not too long on side too or they’ll burn.
