Friday Favorites | 3.18.16

Happy Friday! Last week, I was battling a cold and didn’t have the energy to put up a Friday Favorites. Honestly, I didn’t really have a lot of makeup or fitness loves last week since I slept as much as I could. Most of my favorites this week are makeup – nothing new on the fitness front to report.

This weekend we’re getting ready to host the spring equinox party that we do every change of the season, just for fun. So much to get done yet on this Friday!

Tarte Mariacuja Creasless Concealer* | I received this concealer as gratis a while ago and for a long time I didn’t know how to apply it in a way that was flattering. This concealer is high coverage and very thick – a little goes a long way here. The product also claims to be waterproof and crease resistant. I figured out that the best way to apply concealer under my eyes tends to be with a Beauty Blender so it can pick up any excess product, I started using this concealer more but I still found that it was creasing despite its claims.

Tarte and ELF

Last week I grabbed for this concealer to hide my hideous bags while I was battling a cold and instead applied it initially with my ring finger then only lightly tapping away the excess with my Beauty Blender – perfect! I liked this concealer before and grabbed for it a lot on the weekends, but now I’m loving it and I feel like I can pull it off during the work week. I lightly set the concealer as an extra set to prevent creasing with the ELF High Definition Undereye Setting Powder, another favorite. A while back I purchased the Sonia Kashuk Brightening Powder, but now I’m finding that it can make my under eyes look dry with some concealers; I rarely have that issue with this ELF powder. Plus it’s $3 at the drugstore. I’m thinking both of these products will be in my travel bag for my upcoming trip – blog post to come on travel essentials!

ColourPop Lippie Stix TopangaIs it fair to add this product in if I’ve only worn it once? I’ve only worn it once, but it’s the perfect coral shade with my skin color. I made my first ColourPop order a few weekends ago and this is one of the standout products from my order – read my first impressions here. It’s really difficult for me to find a coral lip color that is flattering against my skin, but this really hit it on the dot. It’s perfect timing too since I’m off to LA in a few weeks and coral is a great spring color. I really do need to try this out more to fully decide how I feel about the product, but so far I love it!

Palladio Crushed Metallic Shadows in Stellar and Light-Year | I purchased these two shadows from Ulta thinking they would be similar to Makeup Geeks Foiled Eyeshadows. These definitely have a good sheen to them, but they don’t have the same consistency as the Makeup Geek Foiled Eyeshadows. That being said, these two colors that  I have a really great and I really enjoy them.

I’ve been enjoying a little shimmer on my lids, which is different for me, and Light-Year has been perfect for the center of the lids. The color has a bit of a peach under tone too it, so it doesn’t come off as bright as some other shimmers I’ve tried wearing during the work week. Stellar is in between a rose gold and bronze color, depending on the light. When I want it to appear more bronze I add a bronze base to my lids before application, like Maybelline’s Bad to the Bronze or ELF’s Crusin Chic. These run around $6 and you can use a coupon on them at Ulta if you end up buying more than one.

Purpose Gentle Cleansing WashI decided to try this product again after going through some oily-skin troubles the past few months attributing it to the switch in cleansers. I cleanse my face twice at night – once with a gentle cleanser and then with an acne fighting cleanser – and I use this as my first step. I’m really surprised at how much I’ve been enjoying this cleanser.

Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash

It’s super basic, has a light scent to it, doesn’t lather up a lot, which I don’t mind, and works great with my Clarisonic to remove my foundation and other makeup. So far, so good on my skin. This would also be a great cleanser for anyone with sensitive skin looking for something gentle.

Like I said, no fitness favorites this week. Hope your week was great and your spring is off to a great start this weekend!
